I can't carry a tune in a bucket, yet I know I can sing better than Wilson. After listening to this piece of garbage, RAP actually is beginning to sound almost like music. (It's not).If he were to walk into any music recording studio today,(where he wasn't known) he wouldn't get past the first try out.Living off of past glories might be all this entertainer has left. And that's too bad.But I think it's time for Brian to seriously consider going into retirement, before he completely embarrasses himself.Mr. Wilson may have some talents, but singing is no longer one of them. The man just can not sing anymore.Period.
To imagine this is the same artist that recorded SMiLE is a shame as SMiLE is such an amazing album and this is just o.k. Many lyrics seem to be happy to talk about nothing special, like "Good Kind of Love" which is a mediocre song. That Lucky Old Sun (CD/DVD) being Brian Wilson's 2008 release and is ok release but compared to SMiLE it is not as good. The booklet has all the lyrics and we get a list of whom plays on the album. I agree with Allmusic that this is a three ouf of five star effort. The speeches in between are downright trite, boring and say nothing worthwhile. We also get a dvd with a making of and live performances. 3/5.
I'm sorry to go against the current, but this is not a good cd. It mixes spoken word with music and feels like eating marshmallows with grape nuts. When is somebody going to say that the Emperor has no clothes on. I know he is Brian Wilson, but this work does not live up to Brian's talent level of old.
Received CD but it was blank. It was a Christmas present so I have no paperwork left anymor. Will not buy CD's any morePeg
Like most of Brian Wilson's songs, this album gets better with every listen. Be thankful that here is one 60's icon who is still with us.
